2019 Silver Master Design Award Winner!

Keith Zars Pools is honored to have received the 2019 Silver Master Design Award from the national publication, “Qualified Remodeler.” The #1 pool builder in San Antonio captured this award in the Outdoor Living category for the stunning Patlovany project.

Qualified Remodeler is a leading publication serving residential remodelers. For the past 41 years, the magazine has received hundreds of entries from companies across the nation for its Master Design Awards. A panel of six prestigious judges, experts in their respective fields, were invited to the University Club in Chicago for two days to review the entries and select the winners of this year’s awards.

Every Keith Zars design project is a collaborative effort of highly skilled professionals. The recognition received for this particular project was very special to our team, but even more so to the family who had their vision for their outdoor space exceed all expectations upon completion.

The winning Patlovany project presented a unique opportunity to design a contemporary, linear pool and entertainment area in a distinctive, limited space while highlighting the spectacular sunrise views of the hill country. The homeowners desired a seamless integration of outdoor living space that would feel like an extension of their home, exhibit clean lines and capture the natural beauty of their property.

Another priority was to have excellent visibility of the pool from the kitchen and family room to monitor the boys in the pool. Safety was key for the homeowners. This requirement meant the pool would be built almost entirely out of grade because of the 9’ variance in slope from the house.

Our objective was to take advantage of the grade issues by incorporating a gorgeous negative edge, accompanied by subtle water and fire features. An interior foot stool was formed to run the length of the negative edge, so the adults and kids could stand and enjoy the views in the 7′ depth pool, while also providing an additional safety feature in the deep end. Whether relaxing in the flush spa, sunbathing on the sun shelf, entertaining on the deck; every feature integrated in the design plan was implemented to enhance the views and the family’s love of nature.

The Patlovany project was also featured on the sixth season of Pool Kings on the DIY Network.

We are very excited to start using our Kieth Zar's pool this summer. They turned our backyard into our dream. Tony came out and answered all our questions on the initial visit, and measured everything in our backyard, including trees. He returned the next week with an outstanding design on paper and a 3-D model on the computer that made it come to life. We had some delays and struggles with HOA, but knowing that Zar's was in our corner and doing all the work to get everything approved, we had no worries. Work was completed on schedule, even with weather delays. John and Toby walked us through and answered all our questions along the whole build process.
