We’ve had a lot of good rain this season, but the Summer is still a hot one, and it’s just getting HOTTER. That’s why we surfed the web to find out which plants would be best for our customers to plant around their pools here in the San Antonio heat. BLACK-EYED SUSAN
With this plant you won�t have to worry about the hot San Antonio weather OR those Hill Country deer. Deer don�t usually go near these flowers.
They are very easy to grow, and add a little bit of color to your garden.
MEALYCUP SAGE
This is a tall flowering plant that you may see a lot of around San Antonio, as its native home is New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico.
THREADLEAF COREOPSIS
Another colorful drought-resistant plant that you won�t have to worry about the heat or the deer. Their seeds do attract birds though.
MADAGASCAR PERIWINKLE
These beautiful flowers start blooming in June and will continue to thrive until it frosts in the winter.
LANTANA
They thrive in the heat, and if you�re a lover of butterflies, this is the perfect flowering plant to place in your garden. These plants love warm weather, so South Texas is where you are most likely to see them bloom.
PORTULACA
These low-maintenance flowers are bright and colorful. They love the summer heat!
BLANKET FLOWER
You may see a lot of these on the Texas highways during Bluebonnet season. They are also known as firewheels. They are extremely low maintenance � they actually thrive on neglect.
VERBENA
These flowers look very similar to hydrangeas because of their bunching. They are very easy to grow, but they bloom in late spring.
ZINNIA
Zinnias will bloom all Summer until a winter frost.
ANGELONIA ANGUSTIFOLIA
These are the perfect plants for the Texas Summer! They bloom all summer, and they come in beautiful colors!
